Workshops at The Yoga Garden

Saturday 18th September 2-5pm
Vinyasa Flow and Chakra workshop with Ana Marcela
(6th Chakra) £30

Expand the life force and calm your mind. Pranayama
In this workshop we are going to focus on the The Third Eye Chakra- the centre of psychic power, spirit energies, higher intuition and light.
This Chakra is about insight and visualisation. When it is open, you have a good intuition. The way you can activate this chakra is through the practices of Pranayama.

Patanjali defines pranayama as "the regulation of the incoming and outgoing flow of breath with retention."

The practice of Pranayama purifies the entire nervous system resulting in a balance of Body and Mind, physical energy and mental energy.
This workshop will provide both instruction and practice of pranayama techniques as well as exploring breathing techniques during Asana practise.

When the Breath wanders, the mind is unsteady, but when the Breath is still, so is the mind still." - Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

Saturday 9th October 2-5pm
Yoga Sports Science Workshop £40 (early bird bookings £35.00).

During this 3 hour workshop we will be exploring how yoga links into your training and can keep you injury free. We will also:
  • Learn dynamic sequences to develop physical and aerobic strength for improved performance.
  • Examine the relationship between mobility, stability and precision to create balanced movement within the body.
  • Work on trouble areas for athletes; lower back, shoulders, hips, hamstrings and the I T band.
  • Develop core strength, balance and postural alignment to enhance physical and mental stamina.
  • Learn performance breathing techniques to enhance concentration.
  • Discover restorative sequences to rejuvenate and replenish tired muscles.

Jessica spent many years training and competing in a variety of sporting disciplines, representing her home state of Western Australia before training as a yoga teacher. Her extensive competitive sporting background has given her an enhanced comprehension of the stresses and strains that the body endures during training and competition.

Jessica has a teaching diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga and has over ten years experience studying and practicing yoga the world over.
She initially turned to yoga as a form of rehabilitation after a hamstring injury. Discovering it not only improved her agility, mobility, strength and stamina, but greatly improved her concentration and focus.

Jessica has recently expanded her knowledge of sport specific yoga techniques, graduating as a Yoga Sport Coach in a post graduate teacher training course in Yoga Sports Science.
She is currently investigating where yoga can add value, and how yoga can enhance an athletes training performance.

Jessica teaches a blend of different yoga styles, choosing to work with flowing sequences and synchronization of movement and breath.

Open to all, although not recommended for complete beginners.
You don't have to be an athlete to enjoy the workshop, you may just wish to enhance your yoga practice!
£35

Workshops at The Yoga Garden are open to all and offer the ideal opportunity to deepen your practice and perhaps discover a different aspect or style of yoga not usually practiced in a weekly class. A percentage of the profit from the various workshops is donated to a charity in India which is dedicated to stop human trafficking.
